What is 360 video and how is it “virtual reality”?
360 video is video in which the camera captures everything happening in all directions at once. You may have seen 360 video on YouTube, in which case, you know how you can move your phone around and see beyond the frame. (If you haven’t, here’s a tutorial.)
What you may not know is, if you watch 360 video in virtual reality glasses, you feel like you’re in the video. It’s as if you’ve been transported somewhere else: to Mars, inside the human body, back in time… to your own wedding.
That’s right, if you film an event in 360 video, you’ll be able to revisit it time and again. We recently filmed a baby shower in 360/VR so the mom – and eventually her future child – will be able to revisit the joyous occasion.
